There are so many great fiction & non-fiction books to read if you want to learn more about mental illnesses! In this list, I chose ten that I have read to share. I sorted them by mental health category, although some individuals could fall into multiple categories (i.e. anxiety and depression; eating disorders and bipolar disorder). I hope you enjoy!

    1. Awesome! Furiously Happy somehow makes even subjects such as depression and crippling anxiety somewhat lighthearted and humorous. An Unquiet Mind has a much different, more serious tone, but it is a classic that really changed the way people view bipolar disorder. Also, it is beautifully written. I love them both! Thanks for sharing and I hope you enjoy them too! 🙂

  1. Hi Anja!

I found you thanks to a retweet by International Bipolar Foundation’s about what you’ve been writing & I stopped by to visit your blog.

I know you appreciate Dr. Kay Redfield Jamison’s work – you have great taste! 🙂 I was honored she endorsed my book “Birth of a New Brain-Healing from Postpartum Bipolar Disorder” and so did Mark Lukach, author of “My Lovely Wife in the Psych Ward.”

Ashley, who wrote the previous comment, gave it a wonderful review on her blog too – it one of the best ones. If you’d like a review copy of my book for your blog, please feel free to email me at dyane@baymoon.com anytime.

Here’s the link to the Amazon reviews if you want to check them out:

Take care & keep up your awesome work!
