Suicide is not:
Selfish.
Easy.
Clean.
Pretty.
Romantic.
Poetic.
In a depressed state, it may feel as if it would be selfish NOT to end one’s life. Depression could drag you down so low that you believe it would be best to end the pain for yourself and others all at once. What is the point in making everyone miserable for years and years and years… why NOT end it now?
So, is suicide “selfish”? Maybe.
But, if you have never felt the emptiness and worthlessness of a severe depression, you may not have a say in whether or not suicidal ideation is justified.
